Coaching for Instructional Leaders
Purpose of the Coaching Program
Whether you’re an assistant principal, principal, director, assistant superintendent, or superintendent, this program helps you maximize your leadership capacity to achieve both short- and long-term goals with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose—all in response to the evolving demands of instructional leadership.
Each month, you’ll meet one-on-one with your coach in confidential virtual sessions built on trust, respect, and collaboration, ensuring personalized support that meets your unique leadership needs.
Coach Selection
USC Rossier’s Office of Professional Learning’s Coaches are elite coaches hired for their professional coaching training and extensive expertise in various leadership roles. All coaches adhere to confidentiality, research-based coaching practices, and may utilize optional reflective coaching cycle tools provided by the OPL. All coaches adhere to ethical decision-making while also holding participants to high levels of integrity, trust, and professionalism. Coaches use data-driven, asset-based approaches and model a variety of leadership and coaching strategies while fostering a collaborative, non-judgmental and mutually agreed upon confidential environment that builds self-efficacy, enhances decision-making, and improves instructional outcomes. Qualified individuals are encouraged to submit a Coach Application Form for consideration. A Zoom interview will be scheduled if given further consideration.
Coachee Selection
USC Rossier’s Office of Professional Learning selects coachees/participants through the selection committee which considers each candidate’s application against a set of specific criteria. Preference is given to candidates who are in their first year of a leadership position. Each coachee/participant is paired with a seasoned instructional leader who brings both real-world leadership experience and professional coaching expertise. Coaches serve as trusted thought partners, guiding leaders through real-time instructional challenges, offering insight, and fostering reflective and strategic leadership development while working toward maximizing measurable growth in specific indicators across a variety of instructional leadership domains.
Please note that space in the program is extremely limited and acceptance into the Coaching Program is aligned with specific criteria found in the Coaching Program Handbook under Participant Application Form.
